Master of Applied Psychology (Organisational Psychology)
Weng is passionate about using science to help people thrive. He provides interventions for a range of mental health issues for adults of all ages. His areas of expertise include anxiety, depression and anger management.
Weng has extensive experience in organisational psychology, particularly in people management. He helps individuals manage workplace issues, corporate stress and develop communication skills. He is trained in occupational rehabilitation and helps workers with physical and psychological injuries return back to work. He is also especially skilled in supporting Christians struggling with mental health issues.
Weng believes that we are all the experts of ourselves and teamwork is essential in therapy. His counselling approach is structured and collaborative. Weng takes the time to listen and work together with his clients to unpack their needs and challenges. Together, they develop strategies and frameworks to resolve these issues and ultimately achieve personal growth.
Weng combines CBT and ACT to tailor his sessions to his clients’ needs in order to achieve the best therapeutic outcomes. He helps people develop better insights, increase their ability to regulate their emotions and utilise helpful strategies to resolve their issues.
Weng notes that professional help isn’t only for people experiencing a meltdown. With increasing scientific developments, many mental health issues are now treatable and can be managed effectively. If you’re new to therapy, there’s no need to be nervous as you’ll have a compassionate therapist to listen, support and guide you along the way.
When he isn’t working, Weng enjoys spending time with friends, contributing to his local church, going on bushwalks, listening to podcasts, and playing boardgames and computer games.
“Let’s remind ourselves that it is normal to feel mentally unwell from time to time, just like we may catch a flu from time to time. There is no shame in taking care of your mental health.”
– Weng Chio Fan
