Anna Madigan-Singh
” You’re a work in progress – don’t strive to be perfect, strive to be human! I am here to help, not to judge. It’s OK to experience your range of emotions. It’s OK to struggle while learning new skills. I will help you build on your negative experiences and overcome your challenges. “

Professional Experience
Anna is a warm and caring psychologist, with over 20 years’ experience working with individuals, couples and families. She treats children (8 and up), adolescents, adults and older adults. She is especially skilled in anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma as well as couples counselling. She is experienced in a wide variety of areas including drug and alcohol use, health-related issues, pregnancy support, ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, work stress, motivational counselling and workers compensation.
In her personal life, Anna has experienced a lot of grief and loss – she has had two bouts of cancer which has changed her outlook on life. She has fostered over 14 children (three of them long-term), and ran various businesses throughout the recession. Her challenges in life and business have helped her build resilience and skills to deal with tremendous amounts of pressure. She is strongly driven to help others and brings this motivation into her professional life as a psychologist.
Anna has a warm and infectious smile and laugh, and an empathetic and non-judgemental attitude, that makes people feel at ease. In her sessions, she combines a broad range of approaches to best meet the needs of each client. She provides a tailored care plan for her clients, ensuring they feel heard and have new strategies to deal with their pain.
Anna studies extensively to offer her clients the newest approaches to counselling. She is passionate about expanding her modalities and over the past few years, this has included schema therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing and various mindfulness techniques. One of her favourite approaches is schema therapy, as it helps people become aware of their thought patterns that interfere with their relationships. She also uses other counselling styles like cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), narrative therapy and solution focused therapy.
Anna is kind and supportive and seeks to understand what each client is going through and meet their needs. Throughout her life and career, she’s learnt that you’re never too old to change or learn new things. She finds it deeply rewarding to see her clients change, get out of depression and achieve their goals.
In her free time, Anna enjoys attending church, reading the bible, going to the gym and helping people in need.
