” If you’re going through a difficult time, know that you’re not alone – speak to your family, friends or a professional. It takes lots of bravery and insight to seek help. It’s important that you feel comfortable and safe with your psychologist. They will give you the skills to manage and improve your mental health. ”
Josephine is a child and adolescent psychologist who is especially skilled in treating individuals with anxiety, depression, stress and emotional dysregulation. She works with children (3 and up), adolescents, adults and families. She treats a wide range of presentations including mild ASD, child ADHD, relationship issues, parenting issues, anger management, suicide prevention, personality disorders, LGBTQ+ issues and work stress.
Josephine takes a calm and understanding approach to therapy. She makes her sessions fun and engaging when working with young people, and often focuses on their relationships with their parents or caregivers. She is passionate about providing early intervention and giving young people the skills necessary to manage their mental health as an adult.
Throughout her career, Josephine has learnt that the therapeutic alliance is a key factor contributing to treatment progress. In her sessions, she gives her clients a confidential and non-judgmental space to share their struggles, while she listens with empathy and provides professional support. Her goal is for her clients to feel safe in therapy and for them to notice improvements in their mental health through their sessions together. She mainly uses cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) and parent coaching. Josephine is a strong advocate for self-care and often reminds her clients (and herself) to engage in it. She finds it incredibly rewarding to see her clients use the strategies they’ve learnt and to witness the progress they’ve made in therapy. When she isn’t working, Josephine enjoys teaching judo, doing aerials and watching k-dramas.
