Professional Experience

Laura is a child psychologist who works with young people aged 3 to 18. She has over a decade of experience supporting children, adolescents and families in educational and clinical settings, where she has conducted comprehensive assessments and provided interventions for a broad range of mental health presentations.

Laura is highly experienced in treating anxiety and depression; diagnosing ADHD, intellectual disabilities and learning disorders; and conducting ASD screening. She also treats complex trauma, behavioural challenges, parenting difficulties, suicide prevention, eating disorders, body image issues, grief and loss, OCD, and self-harm. She is particularly interested in supporting neurodiverse clients and teaching emotional regulation skills to young children.

Laura is known for her empathetic, compassionate and adaptive therapeutic style. Having worked with children across all developmental stages, she is highly skilled in tailoring evidence-based interventions to each young person’s needs. She is passionate about creating safe, engaging spaces where young people feel heard, understood, and supported to thrive. She also values working closely with families, schools, and other key supports to ensure a holistic approach to care.

Before becoming a psychologist, Laura worked in both teaching and accounting. She enjoys being intellectually challenged and continuously learning — qualities that shape her professional growth and varied career pathways. Her life philosophy is to keep moving forward, accept difficult moments as they come, and commit to meaningful change. This perspective underpins her belief that mental health challenges and life obstacles are inevitable, but manageable with the right support and strategies.

Laura’s therapeutic work is trauma-informed, drawing primarily from ACT, CBT and DBT. She merges various techniques and interventions to create a best-fit approach for each client. She often incorporates metaphors, visual tools and techniques (eg. urge surfing) to help young people engage effectively with the strategies they learn. Her work is driven by a genuine desire to help children grow and develop to reach their full potential, and to empower families to thrive.

Outside of work, Laura is an avid reader and loves taking daily walks with her beaglier Coco. She enjoys live music (which she believes is good for the soul), swimming at the beach, and spending time with loved ones.
