Professional Experience

Phyllis is a couples therapist with 14 years of experience working with individuals, couples and families. She is especially skilled in treating relationship issues, trauma, family issues, LGBTQI issues, depression, OCD, panic attacks and emotional distress. She provides interventions a wide range of issues including ADHD, abuse, pregnancy-related issues, addictions and work stress.

Through her work, Phyllis helps couples gain a deeper understanding of themselves and one another. She helps her clients find out what they really need out of the relationship, regain their resilience, and learn simple and realistic ways of enriching their relationships with themselves and others.

Therapy with Phyllis is an experiential process where you will be supported and guided to learn something new to accomplish your counselling goals. Phyllis believes that each person is the expert of their own life. In her sessions, she empowers her clients to reconnect with their innate and external resources, find new ways of communicating with themselves and others, make conscious choices and achieve peace within.

Phyllis is an open-minded, compassionate and humorous therapist. She is an expert in the Satir Growth Model and taught this for more than 10 years. She is also an experienced Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and applies both dialogue and body-oriented interventions to effectively work with clients who have trauma-related, stress or anxiety symptoms. She takes an integrated approach to counselling, incorporating elements from family therapy, trauma-based therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, play therapy, narrative therapy and more. As everyone’s needs and pace is unique, she tailors her counselling process to each client’s therapy goals and current needs. She applies different tools including storytelling, role playing, meditation, drawing, games, hypnosis, physical movement and breathing techniques. With Phyllis, you will never be bombarded with theory and rules, but experience laughter and tears (of relief and revelation!) along the way.

When she isn’t working, Phyllis enjoys yoga, hiking, travelling, calligraphy, cooking, meditating and playing games.
