Starting therapy can feel scary, especially when opening up feels vulnerable or you are unsure where to begin. We can start with curiosity, treat it as an experiment, and see what feels helpful for you.

Professional Experience

Kaishan is a culturally sensitive psychologist and clinical psychology registrar who works with adolescents and adults. She provides interventions for a wide range of issues including complex trauma, borderline personality disorder, attachment difficulties and relational patterns, body image concerns, work stress, LGBTQIA+ issues, emotional and behavioural dysregulation, shame, guilt, and chronic self-criticism. She supports people who feel overly rational, cold, or numb, as well as those who feel overly emotional or sensitive. She also works with individuals who are highly self-aware but continue to feel stuck despite their insight.

Kaishan is especially skilled at supporting people navigating cultural transitions, whether they are adjusting to a new country, starting university, or experiencing loneliness or emptiness. She personally moved to Australia alone as an international student. She has also lived in China, Hong Kong, and several cities across Australia. These experiences have shaped the way she understands culture, identity, adjustment, and belonging. They allow her to bring cultural knowledge and sensitivity into therapy, while recognising that every person’s story is unique. She is trilingual and supports people who prefer communicating in Mandarin or Cantonese during therapy, as well as those who are seeking a psychologist with lived experience of cultural transition and bicultural identity.

Therapy with Kaishan is flexible and collaborative. She brings warmth, curiosity, and genuine care into the room. For her, therapy is more than just a form of treatment — it is a safe and open space where people can express themselves, feel heard, and be understood. Sessions may include laughter, memes, interactive activities, movement, fidget toys, and sitting in a way that feels comfortable.

Guided by evidence-based practice, Kaishan values approaches that are thoughtful, clinically informed, and grounded in what works. She tailors her therapeutic approach according to each client’s needs, goals, and preferences so that it feels meaningful and helpful. She has strong foundations in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). DBT’s balance of validation, acceptance, and practical skill-building informs much of her work. She also integrates elements of Solution-Focused Therapy and Schema Therapy where appropriate.

Having worked across both public and private sectors, her clinical experience includes working with individuals who present with complex and overlapping diagnoses, moderate to high-risk concerns, neurodivergence, and complex trauma backgrounds. These experiences have shaped her approach to providing attuned, flexible, and individualised care.

She walks alongside clients in their healing journey and supports them in building a life that feels worth living. She aims to help clients develop resilience, self-understanding, and practical skills to handle life’s challenges.

Outside of work, Kaishan enjoys crafting, anime, cosplay, baking, and working on personal side projects. She also loves cats.
