“Therapy is like going on a journey to a new place. We may have an idea of where we want to go, but we don’t always know what the road ahead will look like. Some parts of the journey may feel easier, while others may be more challenging. There may be unexpected turns, times when we need to slow down, or moments when we need to find a different path.

Give yourself time. Change doesn’t always happen quickly, and progress isn’t always a straight line. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin.”

Professional Experience

Gabrielle is a neuro-affirming psychologist who works with adolescents (13+) and adults. She has a special interest in anxiety and supporting those with issues like excessive worry, perfectionism, social anxiety and OCD. She provides interventions for a range of presentations, including autism, ADHD, emotion dysregulation, depression, burnout, trauma, sleep difficulties, relationship and attachment issues, addictions, body image issues, work-related concerns and chronic pain.

She particularly enjoys working with young people between the ages of 16-30. This stage of life often involves significant transitions and challenges, including developing a sense of identity, navigating relationships and friendships, managing study and/or work, and becoming more independent. She relates well to the experiences and communication styles of this age group, which helps her connect naturally with them and build a strong therapeutic rapport.

She also enjoys working with culturally diverse clients and learning about their unique experiences. When working with Asian clients in particular, her similar cultural background gives her an appreciation for some of the cultural and family dynamics that may influence their experiences.

Besides private practice, Gabrielle has also worked in university clinics, a chronic pain outpatient unit and parent-child interaction therapy in a primary school. She is equipped with a broad range of clinical skills and the ability to connect with people across various life stages, backgrounds and presentations.

Gabrielle is gentle, warm and approachable by nature. One of the values she tries to live by is kindness — towards other people, animals, the environment and also ourselves — and she brings this into her work as a psychologist. Therapy with her is a space where people can understand themselves with curiosity and compassion, while still working towards meaningful change.

She believes that people cannot be forced to change. Instead, they need to feel that change is their own choice. She finds it important to meet people where they are, rather than where she thinks they should be. She acknowledges that her role is not to tell someone how they should live their life, but to help them understand themselves, explore what they want, and develop the tools to move towards it.

In her sessions, her genuine presence helps clients feel comfortable opening up. She prioritises understanding each client’s goals and works flexibly and collaboratively each step of the way. She tailors a treatment plan for each client, using a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) and Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT). She finds it deeply rewarding to see her clients experience long-lasting changes in their emotions, wellbeing and confidence.

Outside of work, Gabrielle enjoys good food (especially Asian food), playing online games, going to the gym, running, watching true crime documentaries, and spending time with her pet birds and wild birds.
