Jazmin Sara Chan
“Many people come to therapy wanting to feel truly understood, validated, and supported — sometimes in ways they haven’t experienced before. Some have shared that they had not previously had anyone who truly believed them, advocated for them, or genuinely wanted the best for them. Knowing that they experience this within our therapeutic relationship continues to ground and motivate my work as a psychologist.”

Professional Experience
Jazmin works with adolescents and adults aged 17 to 75 years, across a broad range of backgrounds and life stages. She provides interventions for psychological and psychosocial concerns, including anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, PTSD, complex trauma, grief and loss, chronic pain, sleep disorders, borderline personality disorder, workplace-related issues, and relationship difficulties such as separation, infidelity, and co-parenting challenges.
Jazmin has been working in occupational rehabilitation for five years and continues to practise in this space. She is particularly passionate about working with Compulsory Third Party Insurance (CTP) and Workers’ Compensation clients, whether they may be experiencing purely psychological injuries or both physical and psychological conditions, such as chronic pain. She also has the skills and knowledge to work within other insurance-based contexts, including Life Insurance and TAC. Jazmin brings a thorough understanding of relevant systems, processes, and procedures, as well as the importance of effective collaboration with claims teams, employers, treating doctors, allied health professionals, and rehabilitation providers. She is deeply invested in supporting individuals to navigate these complex systems, while focusing on recovery, functional improvement, and sustainable outcomes.
Jazmin provides a safe and respectful space where individuals can show up as their authentic selves. She supports clients in working towards their goals in a collaborative manner, while ensuring they feel genuinely heard, respected, supported, and empowered throughout the therapeutic process. She is outcome-focused and values progress, functional improvement, and client autonomy. She encourages clients to have a sense of ownership in therapy — for instance, some clients may choose maintenance or check-in sessions even after their initial concern has resolved, to support ongoing wellbeing and relapse prevention.
Jazmin builds strong therapeutic rapport by bringing warmth, approachability, and openness into her sessions, helping clients feel comfortable opening up. She strives to create a collaborative therapeutic relationship where clients feel able to provide feedback, actively participate in their care, and contribute meaningfully to their treatment goals, plans, and strategies.
The therapies and techniques she uses are tailored to each individual’s specific needs, goals, and circumstances. While much of her clinical experience has been grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), she also draws on a range of additional approaches to best support her clients, including distress tolerance strategies from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) where appropriate.
One technique she uses often is mindful meditation combined with vagus nerve stimulation. This approach supports nervous system regulation by activating parasympathetic pathways, helping clients shift from a fight-or-flight response into a more settled, rest-and-digest state.
When she isn’t working, Jazmin prioritises self-care and enjoying life outside of the therapy room — going to the gym or Pilates, spending time with her Frenchador and family, enjoying a meal out, watching a good series or movie, and travelling to explore new places. She also loves cleaning and reorganising her space, as having a clean, calm environment helps her feel grounded.
