Kenny (Chi-Tak) Lau
If you’re struggling with mental health, try incorporating a regular practice of mindfulness or meditation. This can help you become more aware of your own needs and of your here and now. Being mindful under different circumstances can help to enhance one’s resilience.

Professional Experience
Kenny is a humanistic psychologist who is skilled in treating adults and seniors experiencing grief and loss, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, schizophrenia and psychosis. He also provides interventions for carers of elderly adults and parents of children with special needs. Kenny specialises in treating Chinese-speaking clients as he is able to surpass their cultural and language barriers.
Prior to becoming a psychologist, Kenny had a 20-year-long career as a social worker. During this time, he obtained deep satisfaction from seeing his clients light up during their interactions. Driven his passion to help others change their lives for the better, he decided to become a psychologist. Kenny helps his clients experience positive change by embracing their individuality and uniqueness.
Kenny adopts an eclectic approach in his practice. He incorporates CBT techniques, desensitisation skills, narrative therapy, solution focused therapy and mindfulness exercises. His interventions are culturally-informed; he has completed a research dissertation on how culture and religion impact the mental health of those experiencing loss and grief.
Kenny has also been trained in the Satir Model of family therapy. This has equipped him with various concepts and strategies such as the personal iceberg (to understand one’s internal processes) and the congruent person (to achieve harmony within oneself and with others).
When he isn’t working, Kenny enjoys running, hiking, swimming, movies, music and lunching with friends.
