Professional Experience

Vera is a clinical psychologist who has 17 years’ experience working with an extensive range of clients and presentations. She works with young children, adolescents, parents, couples and families. She treats various issues including trauma, anxiety disorders, stress, anger, parenting, adoption, grief and loss, abuse and depression. Vera is highly experienced in handling complex psychological disorders. In recent years, she has been doing more work on trauma, including PTSD, complex trauma and dissociation.

Vera believes that a therapist’s authenticity, empathy and unconditional positive regard are essential for promoting growth and healing. In her practice, she applies therapeutic skills and techniques which build upon these foundations. She believes in our natural tendency towards growth, especially in the right conditions. Therefore, she makes it a priority to provide warm, accepting and compassionate therapeutic experiences to facilitate positive change and development.

Vera is gentle, respectful, patient, intuitive and sensitive to others’ needs. Given her character, clients usually find it easy to feel heard and understood. Vera remains calm and composed in the face of intense emotions, so her clients feel safe and supported enough to venture into their fear and distress. For people struggling with specific mental health issues, she aims to help them de-pathologise themselves and separate themselves from their problems. She helps her clients realise their intrinsic capabilities and goodness, to increase their capacities to live with psychological distress, life’s ambiguities and challenges. She supports them to make healthier choices and empowers them to live more fulfilling lives.

Vera uses evidence-based treatment approaches eclectically, including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Flash Technique, Ego State Therapy, Somatic Therapy and Play Therapy. As each person’s journey is unique, she works with each client to figure out their specific needs and goals. She gives new clients the time and space they need to open up, encouraging them to ask questions and express any discomfort, working collaboratively to find a suitable therapeutic approach.

Vera feels incredibly grateful to have witnessed her clients’ inner strength, courage and resilience amidst their struggles. She learns a lot from her clients and feels honoured to accompany them through their journey of healing and integration. She treasures these connections and finds deep meaning and satisfaction in helping them live richer and fuller lives.

In her free time, Vera enjoys spending time with her family and friends, baking, photography, reading books, playing the piano, watching movies, hiking and spending time in nature.
