“It’s important to recognise when you’re in emotional pain. Physical pain is the body’s way of telling us that something is wrong. If you experience something as small as a paper cut, you’d put a band-aid on it. So why would you not address an emotional injury? It won’t go away if you ignore it. Don’t wait until the problem develops into something bigger before you decide to seek help.”

Professional Experience
Keisha provides interventions for a diverse range of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, adjustment disorder, relationship difficulties and other problem behaviours. She is also experienced in vocational counselling and helps people who have been injured and need assistance returning to work. Keisha works with people of all ages and particularly enjoys working with adolescents and young adults.
Keisha provides a safe setting for her clients to discuss and process their issues; together, they explore ways to improve and enhance their quality of life. She has a genuine commitment to her clients and finds it especially rewarding when they do the work between sessions and push themselves out of their comfort zones.
Keisha’s approach to therapy rests on the three qualities of openness, non-judgment and empathy. She helps people understand that everyone has the potential to manifest their inherent vitality. She uses a range of psychological interventions tailored to each individual’s needs.
In one of her approaches, Keisha helps the client understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are interconnected and influence each other. They pinpoint destructive thoughts that create negative emotions and lead to problematic behaviour. She then helps them restructure the way they think in order to develop healthier thoughts, beliefs, and behaviours.
In another approach, Keisha helps the client to notice and accept automatic thoughts, sensations and urges; to be an observer of thoughts without having to believe or follow them. She helps them attend to the present moment with self-awareness and clearly articulate their personal values. This helps her clients cultivate psychological flexibility, enabling them to change their behaviour depending on how useful it is to them in the long-term.
When she isn’t working, Keisha enjoys traveling, reading, photography and playing the piano.
