“Therapy is a personal journey — it’s important to feel understood and connected with your therapist, and not just focus on strategies. Sharing your vulnerable self takes courage, so it’s okay to take your time and recognise that setbacks are part of the process. Therapy is not just about guidance; it’s about connection. In today’s busy world, it’s rare to spend time with someone who listens without judgment and supports personal growth. I aim to provide that supportive space where we can explore patterns, deepen self-understanding, and discover new perspectives that enhance your quality of life.”

Professional Experience

Mengxin is a bilingual therapist who works with adolescents (12+) and adults. She brings with her extensive experience in clinical settings, providing structured psychological interventions and comprehensive case management. She is particularly skilled at supporting individuals with complex childhood trauma, and provides therapy for a range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, personality disorders, PTSD, complex trauma, addictions, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, OCD, LGBTQ+ issues, work-related issues, and pregnancy-related challenges.

Coming from a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background, Mengxin brings a culturally attuned perspective to her work. Growing up in a traditional family in China and then moving to a more individualistic environment in Australia has shaped her worldview, allowing her to integrate her strengths across different cultural contexts. Professionally, she has transitioned from nursing to full-time mental health counselling. She integrates her clinical knowledge with social work values of dignity, respect, and empowerment, while supporting clients through diverse and complex challenges.

Mengxin values self-reflection, personal growth, and authenticity. Drawing on Carl Jung’s words, Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart,” she encourages clients to explore their experiences and inner worlds with curiosity and compassion. Her goal is to help clients gain insight, build resilience, and create meaningful change in their lives.

Mengxin practises in a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and strengths-based manner. Therapy with her involves a combination of empathy and reflection with practical support. Calm, caring, and attentive, she creates a safe and supportive therapeutic environment where clients feel heard and understood. Through active listening and thoughtful feedback, she helps clients identify patterns, deepen self-understanding, and develop strategies that feel authentic, empowering them to embrace change at their own pace.

Mengxin uses a flexible and integrated approach to therapy and collaborates closely with clients to develop individualised treatment plans. She is experienced in CBT, IPT, DBT, ACT, MI, EMDR, and Schema Therapy, and has found Schema Therapy and parts work to be particularly effective in her practice.

Mengxin finds deep meaning in witnessing her clients’ resilience and growth. Seeing their progress, even in small steps, inspires her and reinforces her sense of purpose in contributing to individual and community wellbeing.

When she isn’t working, Mengxin enjoys travelling, dancing, walking her dog, and learning new things. She has a special interest in Japanese culture and has studied the language for several years, allowing her to hold basic conversations.
