Tais Telles
” Therapy is a dynamic, evolving process – never rigid, never prescriptive. It is a space where you can exhale – where you don’t have to filter yourself or second-guess what you say. The work we do together isn’t about striving to be a “better” version of yourself; it’s about uncovering the parts of you that have always been valuable, even in moments of doubt, struggle, or uncertainty.“
~ Tais Telles
Professional Experience
Tais has over a decade of experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults with their mental health. She provides interventions for a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and psychological challenges, including ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder), ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, self-esteem difficulties, life transitions, relationship issues, and identity concerns.
Tais is particularly passionate about helping individuals who feel overwhelmed by intense emotions, intrusive thoughts, perfectionism, or chronic self-doubt. For those who overanalyse, second-guess themselves, or feel as though they’re constantly falling short, she offers a space to untangle those patterns and build a different way forward. She works in both English and Portuguese, her native language.
Tais’ journey as a psychologist has been shaped by both personal and professional experiences. Having relocated from Brazil to Australia, she brings a deep cultural sensitivity to her work, honouring the complexity of each person’s background, values, and experiences. This perspective allows her to connect with people from all walks of life and adapt her approach in a way that resonates with them. She has also worked in hospitals, schools, and even flown to remote areas of Australia, giving her valuable insight into mental health across diverse settings and reinforcing her belief in collaboration, whether with clients, families, or the broader community.
Before becoming a psychologist, Tais was a professional volleyball player. Her experience as an athlete instilled in her qualities like discipline, teamwork, and resilience, which continue to shape her therapeutic style. It also sparked her passion for the mind–body connection, recognising how physical movement and emotional regulation are deeply intertwined with mental health.
Tais views therapy as a partnership and a journey of self-discovery. She believes healing happens when people feel truly heard and understood, so her priority is to create a space where connection, trust, and compassion can flourish. In her sessions, she explores how each person naturally engages with the world, what energises them, what overwhelms them, and what truly works for them.
Every journey is unique, and Tais tailors her approach accordingly, whether that means creating space to process emotions or offering practical strategies on how to navigate them. Rather than offering short-term fixes, she supports clients in creating meaningful, lasting change. Her goal is for clients to leave each session not only with insight but also with a genuine sense of agency over their lives.
Tais’ therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing from a range of evidence-based therapies. She often uses psychodynamic principles to explore how past experiences shape present emotions and behaviours, while also drawing on practical, skills-based methods such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) to help clients manage distress in the present.
As a member of the Neuropsychoanalysis Society, she incorporates the latest neuroscience research into her practice, supporting clients in making sense of their emotions on both a psychological and neurological level.
Outside of work, Tais is usually chasing movement and adventure, whether that’s climbing, swimming, or trying out a new sport. She also has a creative side that comes out in drawing, writing, and photography. Whether she’s moving, creating, or spending time outside, Tais values curiosity, creativity, and finding joy in everyday life.
