Professional Experience

Juliana is a person-centred psychologist who works with children, adolescents, adults and families. She is passionate about helping people through life challenges, trauma, behavioural issues, work stress, grief and loss. Juliana treats a diverse range of presentations including ASD, ADHD, anxiety, pregnancy-related issues, health-related issues and sleep disorders.

Originally from Brazil, Juliana moved to Australia in 2008. She is dedicated to understanding the human mind and improving wellbeing. In her pursuit for professional growth, Juliana regularly attends the latest courses and workshops to ensure she delivers the best service to her clients. She feels privileged to be part of their mental health journeys. Her aim is to promote self-compassion and appreciation for life at each client’s pace, in a non-directive manner.

Juliana believes that the therapeutic alliance the most important factor contributing to therapy success. She forms a strong alliance from the outset by collaborating with her clients. She provides a safe space for each client to discuss their concerns in a compassionate and non-judgemental way, so they can formulate and plan their sessions together, and achieve their therapeutic goals.

Juliana is flexible, eclectic and holistic in her approach to therapy, drawing from a range of counselling styles. One of her favourite modalities is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) as it has robust evidence on efficacy and is the foundation for other therapies like Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She also enjoys introducing mindfulness to her sessions depending on the individual’s readiness. She notes that a simple but useful tool is the practice of noticing thoughts; noticing the language our inner self uses and learning to cultivate helpful thoughts.

When she isn’t working, Juliana enjoys exercising and being in the sun. Whether it be yoga, Pilates, going to the gym, walking or running… Juliana loves all types of exercise as it boosts our mood, elevates our self-esteem and even increases our brain cells!
