Law May
Professional Experience
Law May is a psychotherapist and sexologist who specialises in relationship counselling and psychosexual therapy. She works with individuals, couples and families. She has extensive experience working with people affected by complex trauma, addictions, life transitions, anxiety, depression, domestic violence, gender and sex-related issues.
Law May is passionate about sexuality and culture. Her vision is to help women and young people feel empowered in their sexuality and be informed about sexual health and sexual pleasure. As an advocate for social justice and equality, Law May has actively participated in community health promotion and education programs over the years; raising awareness on domestic violence, disability issues, addiction and sexuality.
Law May’s clinical approach is trauma-informed, client-centred and Gestalt-oriented. She is empathic, warm, gentle yet full of fortitude. Her work is informed by her Chinese heritage combined with Australian values. Armed with cultural awareness and respect, she makes her clients feel safe and comfortable when talking about things that may be difficult to discuss or express.
In her sessions, Law May helps her clients understand their sense of self and attachment patterns. She guides them in uncovering how their thoughts, behaviours and somatic experiences are interconnected; identifying factors that have been keeping them stuck. She works collaboratively with her clients to explore options and find the best ways to achieve their therapeutic goals. Law May deeply cherishes the closeness of therapeutic relationships and the opportunity to work with each client on a personal level.
When she isn’t working, Law May enjoys cooking, singing, dancing, reading, going on hikes and playing squash.
